Competition and European Law.
Borja is an expert in EU and Competition Law. He has worked in the assessment of several merger control files, both before the EU and the Spanish authorities, including negotiation of commitments and complex second phase cases. Borja has advised companies from a wide range of sectors on antitrust dawn-raids and in subsequent competition infringement proceedings before EU, national and regional authorities in relation to restrictive agreements and abuses of dominant position. He has significant experience on EU State aid law and internal market, advising both private and public clients.
Borja has a Law Degree, Universidad Pontificia Comillas – ICADE, with specialization in public law (1996-2001) and a Master Degree on EU Law, Universidad Carlos III (2001-2002).
He started his professional career at the EU and Competition Law Department of Uría Menéndez. He has performed secondments in Antitrust Departments of leading US and UK firms (New York 2004-2005 and London 2008). From 2015, Borja is the Director in charge of the Competition Law Department of KPMG Spain. Borja regularly collaborates with universities and specialized competition law publications. He is a member of the Board and Secretary of the Spanish Association for the Defence of Competition (AEDC).
