Practice Areas

Siobhan has almost 30 years’ experience of acting for the Police and their insurers and leads the Police and Emergency Services team at Clyde & Co. She represents numerous police forces throughout England and Wales and is widely recognised as having significant expertise in defending public liability claims involving misfeasance in public office, malicious prosecution, Human Rights Act breaches and neglect. Siobhan is also instructed in relation to employers’ liability claims involving claims of sexual assault, bullying and harassment.

Siobhan is regularly instructed to advise in relation to a variety of high profile and high value instructions and is renowned for her astute management of technically complex claims, including cases involving witness protection, protection of informants and PII. She has an impressive reputation for representing police forces in sensitive claims arising out of deaths and serious injury of claimants whilst in police custody. These claims often require multi-disciplinary expert evidence due to complex causation issues. She is highly regarded for her representation of Chief Constables in connection with domestic violence homicides following police involvement and the related Article 2 compliant inquests. She is also instructed in relation to high value claims arising out of search warrants involving claims of misfeasance, breach of statutory duty and breach of Article 8 HRA.

Siobhan represented Operation Resolve at the Inquests into the events leading up to and including the Hillsborough disaster and advised on a number of unique issues in order to protect the integrity of the criminal investigation during the Inquests process. She is currently representing a number of undercover officers in the Undercover Policing Inquiry. Having secured Restriction Orders to protect their identities due to Article 2 and 3 risks, she is now engaged in reviewing disclosure and drafting the evidence of the officers. The Inquiry is unique and requires a high degree of specialist knowledge in undercover policing.

Siobhan is also instructed to represent the owners and operators of the Manchester Arena in relation to intimated claims arising out of the bombing of the Arena in 2017.
