Silviu Stratulat

Silviu Stratulat is the Head of the M&A Department of SAA, advising on mergers and acquisitions and private fundraisings across a broad range of sectors but with a particular focus on the technology, pharmaceutical, life sciences and financial services.

He advises across all areas of the corporate practice, including public takeovers, domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, joint ventures, and other portfolio assistance. Silviu also acts for management teams on management buyouts and their new equity arrangements when rolling into private equity structures.

In addition to his professional expertise, Silviu’s extended input stems from his knowledge of European and overseas practices and players which may be involved in all stages and aspects of a deal. He is also a recognised leader in late-stage venture transactions and in early-stage private equity transactions in Europe and the emerging markets.

Among the leading investment funds and well-known corporations, he has represented are Resource Partners, The Rohatyn Group, Gapminder VC Fund, Catalyst, Innova Capital, Vitruvian Partners, Enterprise Investors, Morphosis Capital, Encora Digital, Stera Chemicals, Gemini Solutions, Romanian State via the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization of Romania (MCID), TAROM, Vodafone, SIBS and Thoughtworks.

Silviu also acts for investors, developers, lenders and occupiers and on deals involving the development and financing of real estate projects, joint ventures, real estate driven private/public partnerships, as well as town planning and other regulatory matters. His investment experience ranges from the disposal of shopping centres and office buildings to the acquisition of undeveloped landmark plots in central Bucharest. His insight into a developer’s business was gained through working with large asset management and property funds such as AEW Europe, First Property Group, Futureal and the Reuben Brothers.

Silviu holds a strong international academic background in the Romania, Netherlands and the United States, including the recently completed post-executive program at Harvard Law School – all which further enhanced his ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional mandates and advise foreign investors with a global perspective.

Chambers and Partners Global edition included Silviu amongst the ranked corporate/M&A lawyers in Romania, stating that „he deliveres high-quality results throughout the entire negotiation”. According to Chambers 2020, Silviu is “very attentive to the relation with the clients”. Silviu was educated in the US, the Netherlands and in Romania and has Bachelor’s degrees in both economics and law, as well as an LL.M.
