Santiago Medina Zavala

Santiago Medina Z. is a Partner at Nader Hayaux Goebel whose practice focuses on the energy and infrastructure sectors, advising clients throughout the entire project lifecycle—from development and regulatory matters to financing, M&A and financial restructurings. His experience spans conventional and renewable power generation, natural gas infrastructure, transmission and distribution, and the broader energy transition.

He advises domestic and international sponsors, lenders, development banks, governmental entities, multinational companies, and private equity and infrastructure funds on complex domestic and cross-border transactions involving project development, government procurement, public-private partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, project finance and restructurings across the energy, infrastructure, transportation, water and social sectors. His experience also includes negotiating and advising on key project agreements, including PPAs, EPC, O&M and offtake agreements.

As a member of the firm's Aviation Practice Group, Santiago advises banks, institutional lessors and other financing parties on commercial and business aircraft leasing and secured financings, including sale and leaseback, JOLCO and PDP financing structures. He also represents creditors in complex airline restructurings, including acting for the largest ad hoc group of bondholders in Aeroméxico's Chapter 11 proceedings.

His practice has been recognized by leading international legal directories for his work in energy, infrastructure, project finance and complex cross-border transactions.

Worked as a Visiting Attorney at the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP (2013-2014). He graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana, attorney at law (2009) and received his LLM from Harvard Law School (2013).
