Rutger Kleemans

Rutger is an intellectual property/international technology partner and heads the IP/IT practice group in Freshfields’ Amsterdam office. His practice focuses on patent litigation and cross-border (EU) patent enforcement strategies. Rutger handles both contentious and non-contentious trade mark, copyright, design and slavish imitation/trade secret cases. In particular, he litigates complex patent cases before the (specialised) Dutch courts and before the European Patent Office. Rutger is mainly active in the TMT (mobile communication), pharmaceutical, (bio)chemical, energy and consumer goods sectors. This involvement has given him a good knowledge of related areas, such as (self)regulatory and advertising law.
