Richard heads Freshfields' London restructuring and insolvency team. He has worked across the corporate and capital structure on restructurings, refinancings, high yield and bond restructurings, intercreditor disputes, insolvency appointments, distressed M&A, English restructuring plans, schemes of arrangement, US Chapter 11s, 15s and s363s, pension deficits, insurance workouts, mining, telecoms and structured finance. He has acted for companies, creditors, committees, directors, shareholders, purchasers and numerous other stakeholders in financially stressed situations. Richard’s deals have been recognised by many industry awards.
Richard joined Freshfields in 1994; partner since 2004.
Qualified solicitor-advocate, Higher Rights of Audience (civil). INSOL, R3 and Turnaround Management Association UK.
Richard is author of numerous legal journal articles.
Richard was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge in Natural Sciences and Law.
