Peter has represented clients handling foreign and domestic environmental matters for 30 years, and has developed pioneering strategies for mass tort litigation, environmental investigations, international environmental disputes, and the use of U.S. discovery mechanisms in foreign litigation.
Leads legal teams working on groundbreaking climate change-related lawsuits against members of the oil industry in more than 25 jurisdictions around the United States, as well as climate change-related proceedings before the FTC and Congress. Counsels clients on risks posed by international environmental litigation and on managing international environmental obligations, and works with clients to manage environmental lawsuits in foreign jurisdictions. Led a team that uncovered facts showing that an Ecuadorian judgment against Chevron was the product of fraud, and was one of the lead lawyers on a civil RICO action in the Southern District of New York against the plaintiffs’ lawyers and co-conspirators involved in the Ecuador case.
