2023
• In 2023 amongst other matters he prosecuted a man who stabbed his mother to death by accident whilst fighting another man over a drug debt in a case in a case of transferred malice in Liverpool.
• Defended in a gang related 8 handed murder in Liverpool.
• Prosecuted a high-profile historic murder trial following the extradition of the defendant who had fled to Spain following the shooting.
• Prosecuted two men in Newcastle who beat a man to death leaving his body in a disused utility box.
• Prosecuted two men in Newcastle for historic familial sexual offending of the utmost seriousness.
• Prosecuted a youth in Teesside for a firearms murder.
• Prosecuted a youth in Liverpool for murder following a dispute with a vulnerable man.
• Is prosecuting an ongoing series of trials with some 21 defendants accused of various very serious firearms and drug offences in Birmingham. (Leading Sean Sullivan).
• Is instructed to defend a youth in an unusual case of allowing a vulnerable person to come to harm in a multi-handed case in Leeds following a family member being injured and in a PVS.
• Is instructed to defend a youth in a multi-handed murder using machetes to be tried at Loughborough.
• Is instructed to prosecute a man alleged to have committed a brutal sadistic murder of a prostitute.
2022
• In 2022, amongst other matters, Peter successfully prosecuted a man who killed a burglar in Liverpool. He was sentenced to 19 years.
• Prosecuted two men in Sheffield who beat a man who stole their Mother’s mobility scooter to death;
• Prosecuted three men for a gang-related attempted murder in Worcester, in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
• Prosecuted a water utility company who polluted a water course on behalf of the Environment Agency.
• Prosecuted a gang of courier fraudsters in Durham.
• Defended a murder in Bristol. (Privately instructed)
• Prosecuted a 73 year old woman accused of murdering her husband of 50 years.
• Defended a man who killed his neighbours’ child in a gas explosion.
2021
• In 2021 amongst other matters he defended in very high profile long-running murder cases in Liverpool and Preston. In both of these matters he defended the alleged gunman. He prosecuted a teenager accused of murdering a drug dealer in Stafford and also appeared for the Crown in widely-reported cases of historic rape.
2020
• In 2020 he successfully led for the prosecution at the Old Bailey in the East Croydon Railway murder. He also successfully prosecuted the double murder case of Tamar Moustafa in Birmingham.
• Earlier in 2020 Peter led for the Crown in the first ever prosecution for eel smuggling. Gilbert Khoo was convicted after trial of trafficking some £53M worth of live eels in a case that was reported across the world.
He has an enviable reputation for defending service personnel before the Court Martial in the most complex and sensitive matters. His “sharp, analytical mind” enables him to cut through the most complex of issues to focus attention and energy on the critical elements. Praised for diligent pre-trial preparation, he provides timely, thorough and realistic advice pre-trial and throughout proceedings.
He has an expert knowledge of firearms and firearms law and regularly acts for the appellant in firearms licensing matters, be it refusal or revocation of certificates or proceedings concerning the suitability of persons to be registered firearms dealers. He has wide-ranging experience of defending serious rural regulatory proceedings and allied prosecutions in areas such as farming, meat production, hunting and fieldsports.
