Practice Areas

Attorney Paul (Bo) ZHOU started his practice as a lawyer in 2000. He has 20 years of experience in multiple practice areas covering Finance, Insurance, and Corporate fields.

Attorney ZHOU became an arbitrator in 2014. He has participated in over 300 arbitration cases over company equity, asset management, funds, trust, insurance, real estate, and construction at CIETAC, SHIAC, and SAC.

Since his practice, attorney ZHOU has always followed the development of the industry, focusing on dispute resolution, and discovered the business opportunities in the insurance field when the industry was still in its infancy, and plunged into it. Later, in the process of continuous practice, attorney ZHOU was convinced that the insurance field had a certain lag compared with the capital market and investment and financing fields, and the number of professional lawyers had shown a relatively saturated trend, so he steadily grasped the insurance practice while challenging other financial fields such as funds and trusts again.

Career

Attorney Paul (Bo) ZHOU is the director of the National Executive Committee of SGLA Law Firm (“SGLA”), also serves as the director of the Management Committee of SGLA Shanghai Office, the head of the Financial Dispute Resolution Department and senior partner. Since starting his practice in 2000, attorney ZHOU has been focusing on the corporate/commercial field, winning recognition from many well-known overseas rating agencies. In 2023, he has continuously been recognized by Chambers & Partners, ranked Band 2 in Insurance 2023 and has been named a recommended practitioner in both insurance and B&F by The Legal 500. In addition, he has been listed in China Business Law Journal “The A-List Legal Elite” list of the top 100 lawyers in China for many years, and has been named by LEGALBAND as a Band 1 lawyer in the field of insurance law, by Corporate INTL magazine as one of the best lawyers in banking and finance in 2021, and by Insurance Business Asia magazine as one of the five-star insurance lawyers in China as well.

In addition to working as a lawyer, attorney ZHOU also holds membership in professional associations such as an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Shanghai Arbitration Commission, and Nanjing Arbitration Commission, handling more than hundreds of arbitration cases in the fields of insurance, investment and financing, and funds. The dual identity as an arbitrator and a lawyer enables attorney ZHOU to interpret the focuses of disputes in cases in a comprehensive and in-depth manner when handling cases so as to protect the rights and interests of clients to the greatest extent.
