Work Highlights

Ms. Zhang Ling is an associate professor in Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, Director of the Legal Research Center for Regional Energy Cooperation, and a practicing lawyer. She specializes in international investment, international trade, international engineering contracting, and international commercial dispute resolution relating to energy sector, in particular, Chinese investment in energy and mining sector and large-scale infrastructure construction projects in South Asian and Southeast Asian countries.

She provides comprehensive legal services for different types of power generation projects, grid interconnection projects, and cross-border trade in electricity projects undertaken by Chinese enterprises in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and African countries. She supported Cambodia's largest hydropower project realizing commercial operation, assisted in the successful acquisition of a natural gas power project in Myanmar, helped Chinese investor to settle investment disputes with a local government of South Africa, and provided legal support for overseas investment and financing risk control and compliance. The specialized legal services provided by Ms. Zhang Ling for the Myanmar Myingyan LNG Combined Cycle Power Plant Project have been included in the Fourth Belt and Road Investment Legal Service Case Collection, organized by Legal Daily.

Ms. Zhang Ling has also achieved significant accomplishments in academia. In recent years, she has published academic papers, written professional books, and has repeatedly led and participated in scientific research projects of national philosophy and social sciences, the Ministry of Education and other institutions. She has been awarded the Provincial Outstanding Achievement Prize in Philosophy and Social Sciences multiple times. Additionally, her paper On the Selection of Legal Remedies for China's Overseas Investments—A Case Study of the "Myitsone Project" was reprinted by China Social Science Digest.
