Career
Dr Pablo Márquez, is a partner at ECIJA Colombia (before MBCR), and a private consultant in law, regulation and economics. Pablo studied Law, Philosophy and a Master degree in Economics at Javeriana University, and obtained a LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School and a PhD form the University of Oxford. Pablo was Chairman of Colombia’s Commission for Communications Regulation (2012 to 2015) and Superintendent for Antitrust at the Colombian Competition Authority (2010-2012).
In his experience both as the Chairman of CRC and Superintendent for SIC, Pablo gained significant industry expertise in different sectors, including telecom and media, technology, retail and energy among many other. In addition, Pablo has more than 20 years of experience teaching Law and compliance programmes, as has given lectures and talks at universities such as Columbia, Harvard, Pompeu Fabra and Oxford and has given talks at international organizations such as the OECD, UNCTAD and ITU.
Pablo recently was shortlisted by GCR as Deal Maker of the year 2020 in Antitrust, and listed in Who's Who legal in the global Future Leaders of Antitrust, and also included by the Global Competition Review on its international list "GCR’s list of the top young antitrust lawyers in the world". Finally, Pablo was listed by Revista Dinero as one of the 40 under 40 leaders of Colombia.
Dr. Márquez won several awards such as the Robert Cooter Award in Law and Economics, the Central Bank and Francisco de Caldas scholarships and was granted the Medal of Telecommunications by the Government of Colombia.
