Naomi is one of the few specialists in international adoption, advising and representing individuals and providing expert legal opinions to family and immigration lawyers and adoption authorities in England and abroad. She specialises in public law children's cases and those with an immigration law interface. Her practice also includes advice and representation in domestic and international surrogacy and other fertility cases. Naomi regularly writes lectures and is involved with the media in relation to adoption and children law issues.
Naomi is accredited as a specialist in adoption and private law children cases with Resolution.
Naomi set up the International Year of the Child in 1981 and was founder of the Children’s Legal Centre, in 2013 Naomi was appointed as the patron of the legal centre. She has sat on many influential committees, including the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Board on family law, a national working group establishing standards for adoption practice, and working groups to brief both Houses of Parliament on major law changes in family law such as the Children Act 1989 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002. Most recently Naomi gave evidence to the Lords Select Committee on Adoption Legislation. Naomi was also appointed as co-chair of the Law Society’s Family Law Committee. This was a position she held for three years from September 2011 to August 2014. Naomi was the recipient of the Cornwell Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Family Law at the Family Law Awards 2015.
