Michael Leard

Litigation

For the past 15 years, Michael Leard has represented individuals and companies across the country in commercial litigation and product liability, including pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer product mass tort litigation. Mike thrives on the intellectual competition of litigation. Mike regularly practices in Massachusetts state and federal courts and has substantial experience in multidistrict litigations.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mike serves as a Trustee of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, a legal charity dedicated to increasing access to justice for Massachusetts residents, and as Section Council for the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Litigation Section. He is also actively involved in leadership for the Defense Research Institute’s Drug and Medical Device section.

Additionally, Mike maintains an active pro bono practice. He has obtained legal status for three siblings who fled persecution and abuse in their native country, successfully represented the widow of a veteran before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and secured unemployment benefits for a frontline worker during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For several years, Mike served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where he taught a course on occupational safety and health regulations. He speaks frequently at conferences sponsored by the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the American Conference Institute, Trial Attorneys of America, and Perrin Conferences, and has authored articles for trade journals including Law360 and Risk Management Magazine.
