Michael Steinberg is Of Counsel in the Los Angeles office of Sullivan & Cromwell and is a senior member of the Firmās Litigation Group. For over thirty-five years, Mr. Steinberg has successfully represented leading businesses and prominent individuals in their most high-profile and challenging cases. Mr. Steinberg is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has tried a broad range of cases, running the gamut from M&A disputes to criminal matters.
Mr. Steinberg was a partner from 1995 to 2024. He was the coordinating partner for Los Angeles litigation and served on S&Cās Pro Bono Committee. Mr. Steinberg is a Central District of California Lawyer Representative for the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. He is a member of Stanford Law Schoolās Board of Visitors; a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Public Counsel and former Chair of the Board; and a member of the Board of the National Homelessness Law Center.
He is recognized as a leading litigator by The American Lawyer, Chambers USA, The Legal 500 United States, National Law Journal and Lawdragon 500. Mr. Steinberg was awarded Public Counselās Pro Bono Award in 2022 for his advocacy for special education students, and separately honored for his work in Franco-Gonzalez v. Holder.
