Career

Partner since 2003. Eric Krautheimer is Co-Managing Partner of Sullivan & Cromwell’s General Practice Group globally and serves as Co-Head of the Firm’s Media & Telecommunications Group. Highly regarded as one of the elite M&A lawyers on the West Coast, he has been named American Lawyer’s “Dealmaker of the Year” twice: for advising AT&T in its spin-off of WarnerMedia followed by the merger of Discovery and WarnerMedia (the largest media and entertainment deal of 2021), and its acquisition of Time Warner. He was also named American Lawyer’s “Dealmaker of the Week” for advising AT&T in its proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom AG. For more than 30 years, Mr. Krautheimer has successfully represented many of the largest and most prominent corporations in a range of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, including negotiated and hostile acquisitions of public companies, negotiated sales of private companies, subsidiaries and divisions, private equity transactions, leveraged buyouts, formation of joint ventures and asset sales. He has extensive experience representing buyers, sellers and financial advisers in numerous industries, including consumer and retail, energy, financial services, healthcare and life sciences, sports and entertainment, technology and telecommunications. Mr. Krautheimer has advised global leaders such as Amazon.com, AT&T, Axon, Barclays, Bayer, BP, CBRE, Diageo, Merck KGaA, Microsoft and Teva Pharmaceuticals, among others.

Mr. Krautheimer received his BA from SUNY Binghamton, JD from Western New England College School of Law and LLM from NYU School of Law.
