Career

Melissa Kanô has extensive experience in Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions and Contracts, with solid track record in the assistance of clients of the following industries: advertising, food and clean energy (solar and wind), both domestic and international. Melissa is also the head of the Asian Desk of the firm and head of the Media & Entertainment practice.

Melissa has been elected to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the International Lawyers Network – ILN, a leading association of more than 90 high-caliber, full service independent law firms around the globe, being actively involved in the management of the association as well as in the discussions on the strategy plans for the ILN.

As part of Melissa’s active participation since 2009 in the Corporate Committee of CESA, the Brazilian Center of Studies for Law Firms, including writing an article for the celebration book of the 40th anniversary of Brazil’s Corporation Law, she has been co-coordinating the Corporate Committee alongside with Sergio Marangoni (of Salusse Marangoni Advogados) and Rafael Villac (of Martins Villac Advogados).

She has been a member of KLA’s Executive Committee since 2018.

Melissa Kanô has extensive experience in assisting companies from the Media & Entertainment and Advertising industries. She is proud of assisting foreign and local clients, with long lasting and close relationship with the second largest communications group, with which Melissa works directly with the CEOs and CFOs in the United States and in all its creative network present in Brazil, as well as independent groups. Her work in these industries involves assistance with the understanding and translation of the particularities of the Brazilian market, making sure they comply with the specific regulations, as well as counsel on complex and strategic corporate and operational matters. Melissa is the head of the Media & Entertainment and Advertising department at KLA and responsible for the definition of the strategy of the department, development of the team, relationship with new clients, as well as involvement in major cases.

Career

Melissa has been elected to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the International Lawyers Network – ILN, a non-exclusive network of more than 90 high-quality, mid-sized law firms around the globe, of which KLA is a member since 2014.

As part of Melissa’s active participation since 2009 in the Corporate Committee (Comitê Societário) of CESA, the Brazilian Center of Studies for Law Firms, including writing an article for the celebration book of the 40th anniversary of Brazil’s Corporation Law, she coordinates the Corporate Committee alongside Sergio Marangoni (Salusse Marangoni Advogados) and Rafael Villac (Peixoto & Cury Advogados).

She is now on her third mandate as member of KLA’s Executive Committee.
