Matthew is a Partner and Head of Environment.

He is ranked in the leading UK legal directories for environmental law and acts for a broad range of clients across a number of sectors, including waste and recycling, real estate, renewables, utilities, tech, media and comms, banking, private equity and retail.

Matthew’s core areas of expertise include environmental liability in complex corporate and real estate transactions, environmental crime, waste and bioenergy projects, infrastructure projects, climate change and sustainability regulation and waste producer responsibility law.

On environmental crime, he has acted on significant Environment Agency prosecutions in the UK courts and on waste producer responsibility he regularly advises US corporates on European and UK law. His work in the waste and bioenergy sector focuses on long-term waste contracts, including RDF export, landfill disposal and fuel supply for biomass, AD and energy from waste projects.
