Matt Kairis has spent 35 years trying class actions, winning verdicts in mass tort, financial regulation, and consumer fraud litigation. He currently serves as lead counsel for all collegiate institutions in the national football concussion multidistrict litigation pending in Chicago federal court, a consolidation of over 550 class actions against NCAA institutions. Matt routinely leads high-profile matters, winning judgment to take pre-deployment possession of Air Force One, defending nationwide legal attacks on electronic voting systems for the industry’s leading manufacturer, defeating trade secrets challenges to the development of commercial and military aircraft, and leading all litigation efforts following the multibillion dollar collapse and FBI raid on National Century Financial. Matt defeated a nationwide RICO class action in the insurance industry, won judgment for the market leader in automotive glass repair in a multimillion dollar false advertising case, and obtained a winning a jury defense verdict in a $2 billion tobacco class action. Matt is the Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day's Texas Region, which encompasses two offices and nearly 200 lawyers, as well as Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas Office. Matt also serves on the Executive Committee as Board Member for the Cotton Bowl.
