Practice Areas
Matthew A. Feldman is Chairman of the Firm and a member of the Executive Committee.
For more than 30 years, Matt has played a major role in numerous complex chapter 11 cases and non-judicial restructurings, including both U.S. and cross-border matters. Matt is most often called upon by his clients to handle their most complex and contentious matters. He has a reputation as a dealmaker who is willing to litigate when necessary. He most often acts for debtors, fulcrum creditors, ad hoc groups and investors and has represented buyers and sellers of assets in bankruptcy totaling more than $100 billion.
In March 2009, Matt was recruited to serve as Chief Legal Advisor to the Obama administration’s Task Force on the Auto Industry. This cabinet-level Treasury Department task force was assembled to help develop the overall strategy to restructure and recapitalize General Motors Corporation and Chrysler LLC, a strategy which resulted in the groundbreaking legal proceedings that implemented a comprehensive financial solution for both companies. The Auto Team conducted complex negotiations with all major constituents of both companies, including Fiat SpA (which acquired Chrysler), the United Auto Workers and major creditors of both auto makers under a compressed timeline set by President Obama.
