Lee Cortes is an accomplished litigator and trial attorney who brings over a decade of experience as a federal prosecutor to represent corporate and individual clients in a variety of white collar defense and investigations matters, as well as in connection with complex litigation and crisis management. Before joining Arnold & Porter, Lee served for 14 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, where he investigated and prosecuted numerous high-profile public corruption matters, including the “Bridgegate” case, and served in several leadership roles, including as Chief of the Healthcare Fraud Unit and Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney, the Office’s third highest position. As a member of the senior leadership team, Lee directly oversaw the Office’s most significant healthcare, cybercrime, securities, public corruption, national security, and civil rights enforcement actions. Lee leverages these experiences to represent clients in federal and state investigations and prosecutions, particularly in the areas of healthcare fraud, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the False Claims Act, corruption, securities fraud, and money laundering.
