Laura Kearns

Laura Kearns TEP is counsel in the trusts and private wealth team at Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited.

Laura has an extensive trust practice in Bermuda and advises individuals, fiduciaries and companies on all aspects of trust law, including the establishment and ongoing administration of trusts and their underlying entities, the restructuring and variation of trusts and related regulatory matters.

Laura frequently advises trustees and beneficiaries in relation to non-contentious restructurings and blessing applications before the Bermuda Court, including those pursuant to s.47 Trustee Act 1975, s.47A Trustee Act 1975 and s.4 Perpetuities and Accumulations Act 2009.

In addition, Laura deals with a wide variety of estate planning work, often with a cross-border element, including the drafting of Wills, the administration of estates and matters of incapacity.

Laura is ranked in Chambers HNW and the Legal 500 Caribbean directories for her private client work in Bermuda.

Prior to joining Carey Olsen in 2022, Laura practiced as a solicitor in the UK. She trained with Withers LLP in London before qualifying into their Private Client team. She subsequently worked for regional firm Royds Withy King LLP, splitting her time between the London and Bath offices.

Laura is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, having been admitted to practice in October 2015. She graduated from Durham University in 2009 with a degree in History and later undertook both the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BBP Law School in London.

Laura is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
