Karl Tabbakh is a member of the firm’s Senior Leadership Team, serving as the National Leader of Markets and Interna-tional Business in determining and implementing the firm’s overall strategy. In addition, Karl maintains a formidable practice focusing on complex financings and transactions, including both domestic and international private equity and M&A deals for some of the firm’s most significant clients. Karl led and participated in the negotiation and structuring of some of the most high profile and strategically critical trans-actions in Canada, the Middle East and globally. With over 20 years of experience structuring, negotiating, executing and closing critical business transactions in Québec and around the world, Karl uses his deep knowledge of transactions and global experience to ensure clients are well-served and equipped with an understanding of both legal and business implications during major decisions.

In 2025, Karl was recognized for his outstanding contribu-tions and leadership in the Canadian business community and our national economy as a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal, which honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada. In 2023, Karl was recognized as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada by Canadian Lawyer. In 2022, Karl was appointed by the Government of Canada as Chairman of Invest in Canada, the Canadian Government’s agency responsible for attrac-tion of foreign direct investment. Karl’s appointment is a re-flection of his exceptional leadership and passion for helping Canadian businesses succeed in this global evolving eco-nomic landscape, and comes less than a year after Karl’s appointment as Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
