Julian Jones is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in London. He brings more than 25 years of accounting experience, with over 20 years of specialist experience in forensic accounting. He focuses on financial, accounting, fraud and fact-finding investigations, asset tracing, financial crimes compliance, and in delivering specialist due diligence assistance whether pre or post M&A.
Mr. Jones has served in both advisory and expert witness-related roles and has testified as both as an expert witness or as a factual witness (to explain his investigation work) most recently during 2025 and 2026 in high profile matters in the UK High Court and in the ADGM Court where claims of over US$ 2billion were at stake. He has worked on multiple high value cross-border investigations projects for lawyers, public and private sector clients, governments and regulators. Mr. Jones has investigated allegations of financial statement manipulation, bribery and corruption by procurement managers, lawyers, accountants, bank officers, and senior executives across companies in a variety of industries.
Mr. Jones’ notable assignments have included leading roles in investigations arising from insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings. These have included investigations on behalf of NMC Health, the global healthcare provider and former FTSE 100 company; and investigations in connection with the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers that also required the provision of evidence and cross examination in several related major High Court disputes.
Mr. Jones also regularly acts for private equity firms in M&A situations whether by way of conducting specialist pre-acquisition detailed due diligence research or in post-acquisition situations by way of reviews or investigations to unravel and explain the (unexpected) performance or features of acquired companies.
Other notable investigations assignments over his career have included appointments by government bodies or regulators including for example acting for a government in efforts to trace and identify assets of its former rulers; acting for financial regulators in investigations into boiler room and Ponzi scheme frauds; and acting for UK accountancy regulators in investigating the work of other accountants in several high profile matters.
