He has also led eDiscovery management projects and digital investigations, supporting complex arbitration matters, including forensic collections and cross-border evidence handling. He has worked across a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, energy, mining, steel, manufacturing, insurance, and financial services.
Mr. Magalhaes worked for approximately 14 years in the Risk Advisory area of a Big Four firm. During this period, he was seconded to the United States, where he spent one year in the Houston office working in Governance, Risk and Regulations, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Mr. Magalhaes spent nearly two years at one of Brazil’s largest LPG distributors, where he was responsible for Risk, Internal Controls and Audit. During this time, he led investigations related to fraud, asset misappropriation, and misconduct, as well as financial, operational, process, and IT audits. He also played a key role in structuring the company’s risk and internal controls function and served as a member of the ethics, disciplinary measures, and privacy committee.
Across these roles, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex engagements, and deliver actionable insights that help organizations address risk, strengthen controls, and drive operational improvements.
