Eduardo Magalhaes

Eduardo Magalhaes is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations in Sao Paulo. He specializes in forensic investigations, disputes, compliance, eDiscovery, enterprise risk management, and the review of business and operational processes. With more than 20 years of experience, he primarily focuses on the infrastructure sector, supporting organizations in enhancing governance, optimizing internal controls, and driving operational efficiency.

Mr. Magalhaes brings a comprehensive and practical approach to helping clients navigate complex risk environments, combining deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of business operations. His work frequently involves assessing and enhancing business and operational processes to strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support sustainable cost optimization.

Throughout his career, Mr. Magalhaes has led high-profile engagements across Latin America, North America, and Europe, advising clients facing regulatory challenges, disputes, and critical investigations. He has also led eDiscovery management projects and digital investigations, supporting complex arbitration matters, including forensic collections and cross-border evidence handling. He has worked across a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, energy, mining, steel, manufacturing, insurance, and financial services.

Mr. Magalhaes worked for approximately 14 years in the Risk Advisory area of a Big Four firm. During this period, he was seconded to the United States, where he spent one year in the Houston office working in Governance, Risk and Regulations, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.

Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Mr. Magalhaes spent nearly two years at one of Brazil’s largest LPG distributors, where he was responsible for Risk, Internal Controls and Audit. During this time, he led investigations related to fraud, asset misappropriation, and misconduct, as well as financial, operational, process, and IT audits. He also played a key role in structuring the company’s risk and internal controls function and served as a member of the ethics, disciplinary measures, and privacy committee.

Across these roles, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex engagements, and deliver actionable insights that help organizations address risk, strengthen controls, and drive operational improvements.
