Career
Juanita is a partner for the Intellectual Property and Technology team and the Firm’s Privacy and Cyber Security team. She has been recognized by leading international law boards for her expertise in the area. He has more than 20 years of experience in managing complex IP portfolios for multinational and local companies; he has advised clients with the drafting and negotiation of contracts, distribution agreements, sponsorship agreements, licenses, privacy, consumer protection and information technology.
Customers recognize her strong and deep knowledge of IP and IT, and her high quality standards. Clients appreciate her closeness, commitment and detailed analysis, which are evidenced in her legal work. Her training is complemented by ongoing attendance at high-level certified courses. Since 2019, it has been certified by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPRP), a rating given by the International IT Governance Ratings Board.
In addition to her local recognition, Juanita’s experience has led her to be designated as the regional leader of Dentons Latin America’s TMT area. In this sense, it has led regional efforts to provide effective advice to multiple clients operating in different jurisdictions.
Juanita combines both extensive legal knowledge with a full understanding of the TMT market and regulatory and political issues that can influence decision-making. On issues related to technology, Juanita has extensive experience in traditional technologies, as well as the disruptive ones on which the current digital economy is based. This is how Juanita has advised some of the most important social media, software and technology companies in the world, as well as successfully handled multiple data privacy cases in Colombia.

Work Highlights
- International social media company: Advising our client in the implementation of a Data Protection program that fulfills the local regulations, including the obligations for the Controller of personal data according to the Colombian Data Protection Law
- Multinational software company: Advising our client on the response of a request for information performed by the Data Protection Authority. In this sense, we provided legal support and guidance to our client in the treatment of personal data of underaged population.
- International streaming platform: Reviewed our client’s privacy policy and the advertising campaign that the company would use to implement a new streaming application and platform in Colombia, from the point of data and consumer protection.
- Local and multinational companies: Permanent advice to clients regarding their industrial and intellectual property portfolio, both their selection and their protection, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, consumer protection, promotional activities, guarantees, publicity, regulatory matters, entertainment and privacy.
- Local and multinational companies: Advises clients on the design of policies and mechanisms to make effective the protection of intellectual property (at regional and global level), this being a tool of competitiveness in the market for customers.
