Juan Tagle is the head of the Mergers and Acquisition Department at Prieto.
He maintains an active role in M&A transactions across various industries, representing both domestic and international clients, and participating in several cross-border operations. He has led multiple M&A transactions in Chile, representing sellers and buyers, such as family offices, institutional investors, investment funds, and operating companies, with a strong focus on the energy and natural resources industry, shopping centers, food, technology, utilities, and manufacturing.
He also leads the Energy and Natural Resources practice, advising clients on matters such as construction projects for power generation plants, transmission lines, desalination plants, and ports; gas and electricity purchase agreement negotiations; EPC, BOOT, and O&M contracts; as well as joint ventures and bidding processes. In recent years, he has been actively advising investors and developers of renewable energy projects, including wind farms, solar plants, and battery storage systems, within the context of Chile’s energy transition, as well as desalination and mining operations projects.
Juan Tagle also has a strong professional practice in the port sector, advising state-owned port companies and private companies in various port bidding processes, covering regulatory and administrative aspects of the bids as well as negotiating the respective contracts.
Similarly, he continues to advise owners and contractors on various construction projects related to mining, water desalination, and general infrastructure. He maintains a corporate and commercial practice, serving numerous national and international clients as a general counsel.
Throughout his career, he has been consistently recognized by Chambers and Partners in the areas of M&A, Energy and Natural Resources, and Projects and Infrastructure. In 2024, he was named Lawyer of the Year by Legal 500 in the Corporate and M&A category and is frequently acknowledged by his peers as one of the industry’s leaders in these areas.
