John Higgins focuses on corporate reorganization, restructuring, acquisitions, and litigation. He has extensive experience representing entities in their Chapter 11 cases and/or out of court restructurings, creditors' committees, Chapter 11 and 7 Trustees, institutional and corporate creditors and directors and officers. His practice also includes general civil litigation in both federal and state courts.
John is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American and Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a Certified Mediator (Attorney-Mediator Institute, January 1996).
John's admissions include: United States District Court Southern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, New York, and Texas.
John is a member of numerous professional organizations including, but not limited to: Texas Bar Foundation (Life Fellow), Federal Bar Association, University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, Commercial Law League of America, Turnaround Management Association, and both the Houston and American Bar Associations. He is a former adjunct professor of bankruptcy law at the University of Houston Law Center.
