Career
Joanne leads Ogier's investment funds team from the Cayman Islands. She advises hedge funds, hybrid funds and private equity funds, top tier investment managers, PE sponsors, spin-off and start-up managers on complex fund structuring matters, fund launches, all manner of ongoing legal and regulatory compliance and termination.
A funds regulatory expert, Joanne also specialises in the Cayman Islands anti-money laundering regime and is a member of Cayman Finance's AML specialist body.
As part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team, Joanne has extensive experience in fund formation and capital raising. Her practice also includes LP advisory work, regularly representing, and negotiating on behalf of, institutional investors that are investing in Cayman Islands private equity fund structures.
Joanne also has extensive experience advising on a broad range of international corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, rights issues, private placements, sukuk issues and restructurings. Joanne advised Goldman Sachs International as arranger and lead manager on the issue of its first ever sukuk, which raised US$500 million.
Joanne is a member of the Cayman Islands Financial Services Legislation Sub-Committee, is on the Board of the Education Committee of 100 Women in Finance, served on the Hedge Funds Care Committee of Hope and is a regular speaker at, or organiser of, industry events and conferences.
