Sophie spearheads Ogier’s global Intellectual Property (IP) group bringing over a decade of top tier international experience to her practice, which encompasses the clearance, prosecution, exploitation and enforcement of the full suite of IP rights, including brands and trade marks, copyright, industrial designs and patents, throughout the world.
Throughout her career Sophie has effectively and creatively managed the IP portfolios of some of the world’s leading companies across a wide variety of sectors, first with a focus on the EU and Asia while at King & Wood Mallesons LLP (previously SJ Berwin LLP) in London and, later, with a focus on the Caribbean, Latin America and offshore financial world as partner at a specialist IP firm based in the Cayman Islands where she led the practice. Sophie is widely recognised as a seasoned expert in Caribbean trade marks and Caribbean Intellectual Property throughout the region, as well as in offshore financial centres, carefully guiding clients through this diverse and sometimes difficult to navigate terrain with her in-depth knowledge. Clients appreciate her proactive, comprehensive, and resolute approach.
Sophie serves on the Intellectual Property Steering Committee (IPSC) in the Cayman Islands advising the Cayman Islands government as to the desirability and effect of proposed legislation concerning Cayman Islands Intellectual Property law modernisation and reform. She played an integral role in the drafting of The Trade Marks Act, 2016 and accompanying regulations. She has also contributed to a number of publications including the Cayman Financial Review, the Chartered Institute of Trademark Attorneys (CITMA) Review, the International Trademark Association (INTA) Bulletin, Kluwer IP Law’s Managing Industrial Property, SMD Group’s Country Index, Thomson Reuters’ Trademarks Throughout The World, the World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR) and, the World Trademark Review (WTR), among others.
Sophie’s qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law from The University of Oxford. Sophie also read Music at the University of Cambridge.

Sophie is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and MARQUES. She serves on INTA's Country Guides and Trademark Office Practices Committee (Latin America and the Caribbean).
Sophie also serves on the Intellectual Property Steering Group (IPSG) in the Cayman Islands at the invitation of the Minister for Financial Services & Commerce.
