Jerry is the regional practice lead for the firm's Labor & Employment Department for the Raleigh office. He is an experienced employment law litigator and a strategic adviser to employers.
Clients call on him to defend a variety of claims regarding discrimination, retaliation, sexual and racial harassment, breach of contract, wrongful discharge and other employment-related claims. He has handled Department of Labor investigations, litigated before state and federal courts at both trial and appellate levels, and managed a range of state and federal employment law matters arising from Title VII, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act as well as various state statutes and regulations.
Jerry also provides pragmatic counsel to employers on strategies that help avoid litigation and enhance employee relations. He advises on all aspects of federal and state employment law, including hiring and termination practices, pay policies and practices, employee discipline, employee handbooks, drug testing, background checks and employee safety.
