Jane is a partner in our EHS team and head of environment. She is highly regarded in the field of environmental law having over 20 years’ experience. Jane advises on all aspects of non- contentious environmental law having particular experience of assessing environmental risks in the context of mergers and acquisitions and in the context of the acquisition, development and sale of land. She is known for her pragmatic and commercial advice.
She has deep sector knowledge and considerable experience advising clients in sectors ranging from chemicals and heavy industry through to retail and technology.
She has particular expertise in relation to producer responsibility, regularly advising on issues such as the WEEE Directive, the Batteries Directive and packaging waste compliance, often on an international basis. A key element of Jane’s practice also covers REACH, CLP and chemical compliance where she is known for her thorough knowledge of the subject.
Jane regularly advises on waste management issues from permitting and compliance through to the definition of waste itself.
She has a particular interest in plastic and the development of the circular economy.
Career, BA, St Aidan’s College, Durham University 1987. Qualified 1990; joined Eversheds Sutherland in 2001.
