James is a Partner and has extensive experience in resolving complex corporate and commercial disputes. He leads the firm’s TMT disputes practice and has considerable specialist expertise gained over many years.
James’ technology and communications disputes experience spans transformational ICT outsourcings/managed services, multi-party platform development, technology and software licensing, joint ventures, cloud, fintech, mobile, system outages and claims arising from data/system security breaches (both internal and external). In addition, James gained in-house counsel and sector experience whilst on secondment at a telematics plc.
He leads hard-fought, complex litigation as well as alternatives, such as arbitration, mediation, expert determination, early neutral evaluation and without prejudice negotiations.
An equally important part of what James and his team do is harnessing legal, technical and industry knowledge to enable clients to remain agile when, or before, disputes occur, managing risk, protecting and building positions, and cutting through the complexity via strategies and route maps to find the best practical solution. In addition, James and his team work with clients to help them proactively reduce risk day-to-day and avoid disputes altogether, including through interactive training sessions such as “Hassle-free ICT”.
