Career
Ina Drago is an expert in advising companies engaging in the exploitation of natural resources on obtaining financing and on acquiring and selling companies, assets and shares. She advises on all the legal aspects of implementing and operating projects, including acquiring land, obtaining permits and licenses, signing contracts, sponsorship in administrative procedures, and defending clients in sanctioning proceedings.
She also advises companies in productive sectors, including agroindustry, electricity, manufacturing, hydrocarbon, mining and fishing on designing and implementing environmental management strategies for environmental prevention, mitigation, remediation and compensation in the management of administrative proceedings to obtain all types of permits and licenses; as well as defending clients in administrative proceedings.
She is a member of the Lima Bar Association. Before joining Cuatrecasas, she was a partner in the Natural Resources and Environment Practice at a prestigious law firm in Peru. She was also an international associate at Sidley Austin in New York.
She lectures on mining law at Universidad de Lima, and previously she lectured on the course on natural resources at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
She has written several articles and publications on natural resources and the environment.
Work Highlights
Her recent experience includes:
- Assisting OCIM Metals & Mining S.A in connection with a US$ 10M facility granted to Inca One Gold Corp.;
- Advising Sierra Sun Group on the legal strategy for restructuring the Sumac Rumi mine, involving a finance scheme and a potential sale; and
- Regular assistance to AESA (one of the largest mining contractors in Peru) in connection with all kinds of mining legal matters, including contracts, risk assessment and permit management.
