Career
Federico Espinosa focuses on banking and finance, advising national and international financial entities, sponsors, borrowers and developers. He has participated in complex financing transactions in diverse sectors, including energy, infrastructure, public works, transport, mining and fishing.
Before joining Cuatrecasas, he worked as an international attorney at the Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Department of Milbank LLP in New York.
Personal
He has been an assistant lecturer of civil law, constitutional law, criminal law and procedural law at Universidad de los Andes, Santiago de Chile.
Work Highlights
Recently he advised, among others:
• Intesa San Paolo, KfW IPEX, Natixis, Banco Santander, BBVA, CACIB, Allianz, Carlyle and Hanwha on multi-source financing consisting in both a banking loan and a private placement, both governed by the laws of the State of New York, to finance acquiring, building and operating a water pumping system for Antofagasta Minerals.
• Banco Itaú Chile, on a financing to Gasco Solar Térmico Uno SpA (a SPV fully owned by Empresas Gasco S.A.) for the construction, startup and operation of a solar-thermal power generation system for BHP-owned Minera Escondida.
• Bancolombia Panama, as creditor, and Scotiabank Colombia and Scotiabank Chile, both as local agents, on a financing transaction under the laws of the State of New York, granted in favor of Andean Tower Partners Colombia S.A.S, as borrower.
• Inversiones CMPC, on the structuring of a finance restructuring of Inversiones CMPC S.A.’s debts, including the issuance of debt (Green and Sustainability-Linked) under regulation 144A, governed by New York State law and on a green and on a sustainability-linked refinancing transaction, under the law of New York State.
