Ian is a Partner in William Fry's Employment & Benefits department and is Head of the firms Pensions group. He advises national and multinational companies, Government departments, State bodies and pension scheme trustees on all areas of pension law, including restructuring and winding-up, scheme mergers, overseas pension transfers, investment, dispute resolution, scheme documentation and pension products. He has also advised on several transactions which resulted in the restructuring of pension arrangements and has extensive experience of the complex issues that arise in that context.
Ian is a former Chairman of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland. He is currently the Country Representative for Ireland on the International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association and a member of the DC Sub-Committee of the Irish Association of Pension Funds (IAPF). Ian has spoken at a variety of forums on topical pension issues, including the Society of Actuaries in Ireland, and the Irish Business and Employer's Confederation. He is currently a lecturer on the Law Society of Ireland's Certificate in Pensions Law & Applied Trusteeship.
