Guy is recognized as a leading litigation counsel in Canada. Guy is one of only a handful of litigators in Canada to be admitted as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Trial Lawyers, and one of very few Canadians to be honoured as an elected member of the American Law Institute since 1923. He is a member of the Québec, Ontario, British Columbia bars; and has received Lawyer Emeritus Distinction from the Barreau du Québec; the Order of Merit from University of Ottawa; the Tax Court of Canada Medal for outstanding services to the Court; and Benchmark Canada’s Hall of Fame Award. Practises complex, high-stakes litigation involving a wide range of areas and has appeared at all levels of trial/appellate courts in Canada, including Tax Court of Canada, both levels of Federal Court and Supreme Court of Canada, in a number of leading cases, in a wide range of practice fields, including taxation, class actions, competition, white-collar and constitutional law. As lead counsel, he successfully argued BCE Inc.’s appeal before the Supreme Court with respect to a $52-billion takeover by Teachers’ Consortium, the most important commercial case in Canada.
