Melanie Shishler

A partner well regarded for her strategic thinking and insights into Canadian and international M&A, Melanie advises on complex public and private mergers & acquisitions. She has expertise in acting for both bidders and target companies in solicited and unsolicited public takeover bids and privately negotiated acquisitions in a variety of industries. A significant portion of Melanie’s practice is focused on mining. Her diverse practice involves advising clients on mining asset acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, royalty and metals streaming transactions, private equity investment transactions, proxy contests, and equity and debt corporate finance. She is lead counsel on worldwide and significant M&A initiatives for Barrick Gold Corporation, as well as numerous intermediate and junior mining companies. Melanie is a frequent writer and speaker on mining law, governance issues and joint ventures. She is also a member of Davies’ Management Committee.
