Gideon Kwinter is a Partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Competition / Antitrust and Foreign Investment Group in Toronto.
Gideon advises clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers and acquisitions, marketing and advertising practices, abuse of dominance, criminal and civil investigations, and compliance matters. Gideon also provides counsel to foreign investors and Canadian businesses with respect to economic, cultural and national security matters under the Investment Canada Act, including extensive experience advising on investments involving state-owned enterprises.
Gideon has advised on numerous complex, global and domestic strategic transactions across a wide range of industries, including transportation, telecommunications, retail, financial services, natural resources, infrastructure, media and aerospace.

He is a frequent writer and speaker on competition and foreign investment topics, including being a contributing author to Litigating Competition Law in Canada, a co-author of the Canada chapter for Lexology Panoramic: Foreign Investment Review and leading the problem drafting committee for Canada’s competition law moot from 2022 – 2024.
