Fernando Nava

Fernando is partner at CMS Mexico and specializes in banking and finance, infrastructure and projects. He has 20 years of professional experience representing banks, funds, investors, builders, operators, and developers, as well as the federal, state and municipal bodies. He has participated in the structuring, execution, and operation of numerous infrastructure and financing projects relating to roads, energy, water, real estate, ports, railways, urban transport and mobility, health, and public safety.

Following an internship at Notary Public Offices in Mexico City and completing his social service at the Banco de México, he spent over eight years working as an associate lawyer in firms specializing in financing, infrastructure and public law. In 2012, Banco del Bajío, S.A. hired him as Executive Legal Manager of Structured Finance. He left this position in 2017 to found his own firm. In 2021, he joined the law firm CMS Woodhouse Lorente Ludlow, S.C., as a partner.

Fernando has represented local governments, banks and securities rating agencies in the restructuring of public debt and has contributed to the drafting of several bills and regulations governing public-private partnerships at federal and state levels.

Fernando has been advising banks, investors, developers and other companies such as Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (Banobras), Nacional Financiera (Nafin), Banco Nacional de Comercio Exterior (Bancomext), North American Development Bank (Nadbank), Agence Française de Developpement (AFD), Banco Multiva, Banco Mercantil del Norte, Banco Sabadell, Banco del Bajío, BanRegio, Banca Mifel y Monex.
