Martin Estrada is Co-Managing Partner of Munger, Tolles & Olson, and a trial attorney whose practice focuses on complex litigation and investigations. He has represented Fortune 500 companies and prominent individuals in some of their most significant and sensitive matters.
Formerly the United States Attorney for the Central District of California and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Martin has tried more than 30 federal and state cases and arbitrations and argued more than a dozen cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals. Martin’s trial work has covered a broad array of areas, including class actions, mass torts, commercial litigation and federal and state constitutional claims. He has successfully steered clients through both government-facing and internal investigations involving alleged legal, regulatory and policy violations, and he is ranked by Chambers USA for Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations – California.
During his time as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, the largest judicial district in the country, with almost 20 million residents, Martin led the office in handling some of the most high-profile cases in the country, including the prosecution of those responsible for the death of actor Matthew Perry, the prosecution of the translator for Shohei Ohtani for stealing over $16 million from the baseball superstar, the prosecution of celebrity lawyer Tom Girardi and the prosecution of the Pico-Robertson shooter, who attempted to murder two Orthodox Jewish men based on religious and ethnic animus.
Martin’s family emigrated from Guatemala and he is fluent in Spanish.
