Dorothy Charach

Dorothy Charach is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Litigation Group in Toronto and Co-Leader of the firm’s National Health Industry Group. She is a trial and appellate advocate whose practice focuses on medical negligence, product liability, class actions, commercial litigation, and defamation. Dorothy has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench, and as appellate counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada. She has extensive trial experience, including successfully defending physicians in professional liability cases tried by jury and by judge alone, and has acted as appellate counsel on several occasions. She has argued many procedural motions, including successfully resisting certification in multiple class proceedings. Her clients include pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, technology companies, food and beverage companies, hospitality companies, and retailers.
