Dominic Bédard-Lapointe specializes in tax disputes involving large corporate groups, particularly those resulting from complex reorganizations and the application of the general anti-avoidance rule (GAAR). Having represented both institutional taxpayers and the Crown, Dominic offers a unique perspective that enables him to anticipate challenges and develop efficient, results-oriented litigation strategies. His experience spans precedent-setting cases and significant matters before Canadian courts and tax authorities, both in English and French. Prior to focusing his career on tax disputes and litigation, Dominic spent a decade practising in tax planning, where he learned skills that provide him with the ability to approach files through the same technical lens as Tax Court of Canada judges.
Dominic was called to the Québec Bar in 2011 and holds law degrees from HEC Montréal (LL.M., Taxation, 2011) and Université Laval (LL.B., 2008).
Incoming Board Member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and member of its Montréal chapter committee; former special advisor to the Foundation's Board of Governors at the national level. Lecturer in the Master's in Taxation program at HEC Montréal, and member of APFF and IFA.
Author of numerous publications and conference papers on tax disputes, tax avoidance, GAAR, and tax administration matters.
Dominic is actively involved in the tax community and regularly speaks at tax conferences across Canada and internationally.
