His practice relates exclusively to pensions, benefits and compensation plans and their related investment arrangements. He advises both private and public sector clients on the legal and regulatory aspects of pension and employee benefits plans including: governance, fiduciary responsibilities, plan administration and compliance, pension fund investment, pension committees, plan wind up, surplus strategies, and the negotiation and drafting of plan and trust documents. Clients include universities, municipal bodies, governmental agencies, multinational corporations, jointly-trusteed, and multi-employer pension plans.

Previously served as chair of both the CPBI Ontario Region and the pensions and benefits executive of the OBA, Deron was also a member of the FSCO Legal Advisory Committee.
Deron has written and spoken at numerous industry conferences in virtually all areas of pension law, including obligations of administrators and other fiduciaries, governance, communication and legal liability, M&A, insolvencies, investments, executive pensions and risk management.
Deron is Vice Chair of the Board of Governors and is Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee of St. Jerome’s University. Deron is a guest lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School and he is a member of the CD Howe Pension Policy Committee.
