Daniel previously worked for another leading offshore law firm in Jersey in their Employment and Dispute Resolution department. Before that he was a barrister at a leading common law chambers in London for five years.
Daniel leads our Employment practice group in Jersey and has over 11 years' experience in Jersey with a focus on advising financial services organisations on all aspects of the employment relationship.
Daniel is a Jersey Advocate with experience in Royal Court and Employment and Discrimination Tribunal cases. He gives strategic advice on all aspects of the employment relationship including:
managing employee relations
managing sickness absences
internal investigations
disciplinary and grievance procedures
whistleblowing and discrimination claims
restructuring and redundancy
regulatory matters
exits
Daniel regularly works with our Investment Funds and Corporate team with the employment law aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions.
He also advises on business licensing and immigration matters, regulatory and data protection issues involving employees and he regularly supports clients with drafting and negotiating employment documentation including contracts and handbooks.
Daniel also has in-house experience, having undertaken a six-month client secondment with a major bank, advising on employee relations issues.

Advising an investment adviser and their new employer on a breach of restrictive covenant claim in the Royal Court.
Advising a leading intellectual property and data business on a large collective redundancy process, which resolved without a single claim being issued.
Drafting a phantom share scheme for a Jersey employer, including bespoke leaver provisions.
Acting as lead employment counsel on the potential sale of a local trust company, which included coordinating due diligence responses from a number of different jurisdictions.
Defending a bank and senior management team in the Jersey Employment and Discrimination Tribunal in claims alleging age and race discrimination and constructive unfair dismissal.
Advising a leading global fund manager on the employment aspects of its relocation to Jersey as well as providing ongoing employment and immigration advice and support.
Supporting a number of different financial services clients with sensitive exits involving senior employees.
Advising a professional services client on a disciplinary process and exit involving allegations of sexual harassment.
Acting as an investigator for a financial services business following historic allegations of sexual harassment from a former employer.
Acting as an investigator for a large financial services business looking at potential misconduct, misrepresentation, and potential data breaches involving the previous owners of the business.
