Danielle advises on all aspects of employment law, focusing in particular on discrimination and employment-related disputes and is part of our Employment practice group.
Danielle spent 14 years practising in the London office of a major international law firm, working across the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law issues.
Her core practice involves:
- drafting and negotiating employment documentation, including restrictive covenants
- assisting with HR processes and employee relations matters
- representing clients in employment tribunal litigation
- advising on employment aspects of transactions
- assisting with the relocation of employees into Guernsey
- advising on pension issues
Danielle also has in-house experience, having undertaken a six-month client secondment with British Airways, advising on employee relations and trade union issues.
Experience
Before joining Walkers in 2022, Danielle worked in Baker McKenzie's London office in its UK employment law team. At Baker McKenzie she advised clients across a broad range of sectors, including the financial services, tech and retail sectors.
She joined Walkers having initially joined another offshore law firm in Guernsey in 2021.
Work Highlights
A selection of Danielle's recent representative experience includes:
- Representing a local technology company in relation to an Employment Tribunal claim for constructive dismissal and disability discrimination.
- Assisting a client with restructuring exercising impacting its European operation and the implementation of a number of redundancies locally.
- Reviewing and amending a client's phantom share agreement, which included a number of post termination restrictions, to make it suitable for Guernsey employees.
- Advising a financial services client in relation to the proposed acquisition of another local company, carrying out due diligence and drafting/ reviewing related documentation.
- Providing advice to a local fund administration company regarding an employee on long term sick leave who had raised a grievance regarding alleged discrimination.
- Conducting discrimination audits for various clients to determine whether their contractual documentation and processes give rise to any risks under discrimination law, making consequential amendments to the documentation and carrying out training for employees and/ or managers.
- Acting as the local partner of various international immigration firms, to assist with any Guernsey inbound relocations.
- Assisting a client in the insurance sector with Secondary Pensions compliance, including drafting amended pensions wording for employment contracts and advising on required amendments to the Pension Trust Deed and Rules.
- Advising a client in relation to pay negotiations with its recognized trade unions.
- Providing detailed advice to a global private markets firm on record keeping requirements taking into account local statutory retention periods as well as general data protection principles.
