Richard has more than 25 years' specialising in complex contentious trusts matters and commercial disputes, including injunctions, fraud, asset tracing, enforcement and insolvency.
He is also an expert in applying traditional Jersey customary law to modern commercial disputes.
He is an experienced trial and appellate advocate with experience in England, internationally and offshore and has been called to the bars of Jersey, England and Wales, New Zealand and New South Wales.

Experience
Before joining Walkers in 2022, Richard spent ten years with two other Jersey law firms. Before that he was a barrister in London at a specialist commercial and chancery chambers. He has also worked in New Zealand with Simpson Grierson, and at the London market office of a leading insurance firm.
Richard is Visiting Professor of Trusts Law at the Institute of Law in Jersey. He has previously taught property and trusts law at King’s College London and Victoria University of Wellington. New Zealand. He was also Assistant Chief Examiner for civil procedure, evidence and remedies for the Bar Standards Board in London, and Visiting Professor of Civil and Criminal Procedure at the Jersey Institute of Law.
He is the author of Offshore Civil Procedure, the definitive guide to litigation practice and procedure in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, published by Sweet & Maxwell as a companion volume to the White Book. He is also a contributor to International Trust Precedents, also published by Sweet & Maxwell.
