Daniel Culley’s practice focuses on antitrust. His work includes counseling, merger control, antitrust litigation, and civil and criminal government investigations. He has particular interest and experience in high-tech industries, two-sided markets, and vertical mergers. Daniel has represented clients in federal and state courts and advised clients in both criminal and civil investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, the FTC, state agencies, and the European Commission, including most recently in the successful defense of Broadcom’s $87 billion acquisition of VMware, the largest technology acquisition in history. He has significant trial experience against U.S. enforcers, including defending JetBlue’s acquisition of Spirit, Assa Abloy’s acquisition of the Hardware and Home Improvement division of Spectrum Brands, Change Healthcare’s acquisition by UnitedHealth Group’s Optum unit, and T-Mobile’s acquisition of Sprint. Having practiced in Cleary’s Brussels office from 2018 to 2021.
