Chumbhot Plangtrakul

Chumbhot (“Arm”) Plangtrakul, a US/UK-trained and commercially-oriented equity partner, has developed an industry-focused practice covering traditional, renewable and alternative energy, battery production and storage, infrastructure, real estate, and oil & gas projects of different sizes. He represents sponsors, borrowers, developers, entrepreneurs, investors, lenders, buyers/sellers and other stakeholders in all business cycles, from early development to commercial operations and beyond, and on broad variety of transactions, including M&As, project financings, joint ventures and venture capital.

As one of the rare Bangkok-based practitioners who maintain both a true cross-border and an ASEAN-focused law practice, Chumbhot has extensive experience on projects in North America, Europe, Australia and throughout Asia in addition to Thailand. Recently, his team advised Monsoon Wind Power in the US$692 million non-recourse project financing from ADB and a syndicate of other lenders for the largest wind power project in Southeast Asia; EGCO Group on their acquisition of 50% equity interest in a 1,304 MW portfolio of three CCGT facilities in northeastern United States and US$194 million investment in a 30% equity interest in Chandra-Asri Group (Indonesia’s leading infrastructure and utility solutions provider); and Banpu Group on multiple investments in battery manufacturing, swapping and EV-related businesses in China and Southeast Asia.
