Christian Mahoney is the global head of Cleary Gottlieb’s eDiscovery and Litigation Technology group. Christian’s practice focuses on eDiscovery, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and information governance.

Christian regularly advises clients on preservation, collection, review, and production processes for antitrust, securities enforcement, and litigation matters. In this role, Christian develops plans for the preservation of data, negotiates discovery procedures and utilization of advanced technology with government regulators and opposing counsel, prepares clients for and defends 30(b)(6) depositions on data preservation and discovery issues, revises client collection processes, and implements sophisticated technology processes, including the customized usage of artificial intelligence for identification of data for review and production.

He also serves as discovery counsel for some of the world’s largest corporations, advising clients on information governance and data retention as well as litigation preparedness.

Christian is a leader in the application of artificial intelligence for discovery. He has developed, negotiated, and implemented novel artificial intelligence technologies and workflows including the development of artificial intelligence to classify both attorney client privilege and sensitive health information. Because of his expertise in the area, he has been retained by large eDiscovery service providers to advise on technical and legal best practices in the implementation of artificial intelligence for eDiscovery.
