Charles Maurice

Charles is a commercial, technology and regulatory lawyer advising both businesses and individuals. Charles heads our technology sector group and supports clients across the financial services and insurance sectors on their tech and regulatory requirements.

Charles joined Stevens & Bolton in 2016 having trained and worked at a City law firm, and became a partner in 2020. Charles has spent time on a number of secondments during his career (including time at Belron, Nike and Hermes Fund Managers) and regularly draws on this experience to provide targeted and concise commercial and legal advice to clients.

Charles has a particular interest in the financial services sector and supports our key clients in this space, often in conjunction with our insurance sector team led by Heidi Sawtell. His work in this area has included advising on material outsourcing, insurance distribution, custody and clearing, as well as on consumer credit and payment services matters. Much of this work is technology driven and Charles is frequently asked to provide both technology and regulatory advice in a joined-up manner.

Separately, Charles also advises on sports matters, where he focuses on the sports regulatory and commercial aspects of the work we do with our sports clients. He co-heads our sports sector group with Tom Collins and has particular experience advising on the acquisition and sale of football clubs across the UK football pyramid. Charles is also well-versed in the professional golf landscape and looks after several clients operating in this space.
